overall, there were not many changes made when physically creating the teaser trailer and the magazine front cover, from what i had planned to do. in regards to the magazine front cover, there were no changes made from what i had planned to do, which was great and allowed me to focus more on the trailer itself. when creating the trailer, there were only two main things which i changed in comparison to the plan i'd made;

• when making the graphics slides which included the tagline to the film, i had previously planned to use a white background with a black font on top, however after doing so and watching the trailer, i realised that the black on white looked amateur and somewhat like a powerpoint presentation. therefore i used a black background, with a white font on top, which allowed the trailer to flow more as i could use a 'dip to black' effect and then the graphic slide would fit perfectly. as the trailer is now complete, i am very pleased i changed to this option.
  
• after drawing my storyboard for the trailer, i included a large variety of shots which after filming were not needed. therefore, the film trailer ended up being a little shorter than planned, however as it is only a teaser trailer, i wanted to leave the audience wanting more as do all teaser trailers. also, within the storyboard i had planned to include more 'dips to white' however after i changed the graphic slides (above) i realised that 'dips of black' were a better choice when creating the trailer.

over, there were no large changes made during the production work of the film 'Finders Keepers', there were simply two minor changes which had no large impact on the trailer of magazine cover.

one way in which i have used a convention from a real media text is within the film teaser trailer. as the film 'Finders Keepers' which we created fell into the surrealist genre, i chose to analyse a teaser trailer of a film from the same genre; 'Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind'. throughout the trailer there are many quick cuts, which make the trailer fast paced and mixed up, therefore drawing the audience in, making them want to see the film, which is essentially the aim of a teaser trailer. in addition, i added some graphics into the trailer, which were the tagline to the film, and finally the name of the film and the release date. as all other film teaser trailers have one, maybe two, songs which can be heard throughout, i chose a song which was also in the film, therefore linking the two together. also, the same font type was used through the poster, the magazine cover and the film, which again made all items related to 'Finders Keepers' together. on the whole, i kept to the main conventions which are involved when creating a film teaser trailer.

the teaser trailer for 'Finders Keepers' is now complete. through completing the trailer i have been able to improve my skills on Adobe Premiere Elements. in comparison to my previous work created on there last year, my skills have been greatly improved, and my teaser trailer is of a much higher standard. i have successfully learnt how to insert sound, graphics and images into the movie, and then edit it all together to create the complete thing.

yesterday, we continued to film our footage for the film and film trailer. we now have all of our footage and are therefore editing it. this is what we will continue to do for the remaining lesson time we have left before the project needs to be given in.

today i have completed my magazine front cover, which i am really pleased with. i have developed my skills on Photoshop and eventually put the straplines and other images or text onto my front cover using Photoshop rather than a Publishing programme. i have improved my skills by being able to edit fonts more effectively; positioning, size, style etc. however, a new thing which i have learnt today is how to insert shapes onto the cover. at first i had some difficulty getting a filled circle onto the cover, as each time i then clicked off it to insert text into it, it would dissappear. i then experimented with the various tools on Photoshop and managed to choose the right tool which made a cirlce template, which i then filled in purple to match the title of 'Empire'. i am overall really happy with the outcome of my front cover.

this week i have used both a digital camera and the video camera. i used a digital camera which has a macro and fisheye lense, which will provide the photographs for the magazine front cover and the poster. we used the video camera to film our short film (for film studies) which we will then rearrange and crop to provide the film trailor.

when taking the photos of 'Penelope' for the magazine front cover and the poster, i used the fisheye lense on the camera to continue the theme of surrealism which is in the film. the photographs show 'Penelope' and the pen, which is the main theme within the film and therefore extremely important. 'Penelope' is positioned infront of a pink and silver wallpapered wall, which is in the room where she intially discovers the power of the pen, therefore it is significant. i will put the image on the magazine cover in wednesdays lesson, and the poster will be made so we will therefore have the remaining time to complete the film trailer.

today i have completed the storyboard for the film trailer, which i will be able to successfully follow once i the filming has been completed today, after the lesson.
i also plan to taking the photo for my magazine front cover using a fish-eye lense on the camera to keep the theme of surrealism going. this will also be the case for the poster.

this week i have used Photoshop, in order to begin my magazine front cover. as it will be an issue of Empire magazine, i inserted a cover of the magazine into Photoshop and used thw wand tool to copy and paste each letter of Empire, onto a new page which would be the start of my own cover. once i had inserted each letter, i positioned them correctly, following the conventions of the other Empire covers. my cover was now beginning to look like the other Empire magazines. from this stage, i went on to change the colour of the text. i decided on a dark purple, as it was not too vibrant yet it matched the on going theme of the purple pen which Penelope finds. i finally added some additional text on to the cover; the issue date, the price, the website and a barcode. i now need to take my photograph(s) for my front cover and finalise the straplines i intend on using on the cover.
through doing this, i do not feel that i have developed any skills as everything i have done, i was able to do last year. one problem which i have stumbled upon is a weakness within Photoshop; it is an image manipulation programme, rather than a text programme, such as Publisher. therefore, i am going to wait untill i have my photograph(s) for my magazine front cover, to then save it as a jpeg, and add text on Publishing software.

i have started to create my magazine front cover. so far i have created the title Empire, and added a date, price and the magazine's website. i am following the layout and theme of the other Empire magazines; essentially providing a template for my cover.

today i have continued my research, however this time in Empire magazine covers. i have used secondry sources, from the internet, whilst researching this week. i used Empire magazine within my research as i plan on using it when making my own magazine cover. i have noticed that one of the unique selling points of their magazine covers, is how they change the title of Empire into a style sepcific of the film featuring on the front cover. this has helped with my planning as it allows me to brainstorm ideas about how i want the title of Empire to look in relation to the film trailor, eg, at the end of the film a piece of paper is screwed up, therefore an effect on the magazine cover Empire which would make the writing look crumpled up would be ideal. it has also allowed me to think about my magazine cover and begin to plan it. i have decided on how i would like the title of Empire to look, and changing it to a purple colour, so that it has some significance with Penelope's pen from the film, which is purple. i have also decided on the straplines i am going to use, now i need to decide on the position of Penelope on the cover, and go on to take the photograph.

this week i have researched film trailers and posters, which will enable me to complete the task of creating a teaser trailer, poster and magazine front cover, on the film i am creating in film studies.
